Welcome to Erin's Music Page!
More will be coming soon, but until then, enjoy a brillient idea thought up by myself and my friends Katie Ulmer and Tim Rosser very late one night: Cadences in Writing!
New idea: Cadences in Writing

The Concept: There should be cadences in writing - standardized, easy to fit in things which signal the reader that an essay feels over.  And "The End" just doesn't cut it.

The Options:
1.)  Write "Insert plagal cadence here."

2.)  Bow so everyone knows it is over and applauds, which often happens in new music.

3.)  Fade out like pop tunes by making the words smaller and smaller and followed by a bunch of periods.

4.)  Give it a first ending and a second ending, then a coda.

5.)  Throw in a cadenza using a lot of really big words, in octaves if possible.

6.) Set the dynamic at fortissimo to emphasize the closing theme.

7.)  Modulate during the cadenza, which will have an interesting and breathtaking effect, and no one will notice that there is not a closing theme.

8.)  Offer optional endings so the performer can choose.
