12/7/01: Well, it is D-Nice back in the place to be here at Illuminati 2G. The old saying "You don't know what you have till it's gone" really is true. We were without a site there for a hot minute, but we are back and we will be stronger than ever so lets get to it...

Man, this week was a huge week for west coast releases. Mack 10, Cypress Hill, Ice Cube and Nate Dogg all dropped albums this week. I can't help but to think back to circa 1995-96 and remember back when Ice Cube and Cypress Hill was beefing back in the day. Cypress accussed Cube of stealing the whole "Throw Your Set In The Air" hook for his smash hit at the time "Friday".  Aledgedily, Muggs offered to do the beat and song concept for Cube, but he declined. Cypress responded to this by dissing Cube on the song "No Rest For The Wicked" on the "Temples Of Boom" album. B-Real got into Cube something fierce. Cube responded with "King Of The Hill" on Westside Connection's album and him and Mack 10 returned the favor. B-Real released another diss song, but it never appeared on a album. It almost came to blows as DJ Muggs offered to have Cypress and Westisde Connection to go toe to toe in a street fight on pay per view and Sen Dog threatening to kick Cube's ass at a concert for his anti-semetic diss towards Cubans. The song was called "Ice Cube Killa" and it jacked the King Of The Hill beat.

The funny thing about this whole beef is that it took Shaquille O' Neal of the L.A. Lakers to stop the beef and get the 2 on speaking terms. They appeared on Shaq's soundtrack to "Steel" on a song called "Man Of Steel" that also featured KRS-ONE, Peter Gunz and Shaq himself. The song was an instant hit and Cube and B-Real squashed it. I am a fan of both artists and I can remember being torn down the middle about the whole thing, but if I had to pick a winner in that war I would have to go with Cube. Anyways, I would love to see Muggs do more beats for Cube in the future and just think of this Dream Team collabo: A song called "Hillside Connection" featuring Cypress Hill and Westside Connection!!!

Fat Joe looks like he is finally starting to get the respect and the props he deserves. This new album is bangin and the collabo he did with R Kelly is hot to def. But like many other artists, Joe also has beef with a certain rapper named Jay-Z. He gets at him kinda tuff on this album and it will be interesting to see what comes out of this beef. Nas' album will be dropping December 18th, but he already has the streets buzzing over his new single "Got U Self A Gun". He re-enacts Biggie and 2pac's murder in mirror like fashion over a haunting beat. The song gives props to both and it really looks like it will set the tone for the rest of his album. He disses alot of people on this one including Mobb Deep so it will be interesting to see what develops.

That is all from me today, but stay tuned to Illuminati 2G as we are preparing our annual ILLUMINATI MUSIC AWARDS AND OUR HIP HOP TOURNAMENT. There are alot of worthy albums to receive awards this year, but only the cream of the crop will win. Check for both of those at the end of the year or at the latest the beginning of January when all the albums for 2001 are done. I will also be having a slew of new reviews so be ready. Until next time, stay enlightened and always strive to move forward (ASTMF). PEACE!!! D-Nice
