The loftiest endeavor a human can reach is the mystical experience.
When one prays to a higher power or God, one is attempting a communion, which is mysticism, thus, it includes almost every person on earth.
The mystical experience, very, very, rare, can be and is interpreted according to each religious denomination. There are also different levels of the phenomenon, causing varied impressions and much confusion.
No one has ever been able to pinpoint and identify the highest peak of the mystical experience mainly cause it is too obvious, while the implosion itself is too powerful to analyze correctly.
The pharaohs' mentors (mystics) were imported from Caucasia, causing the thousands of years of continuity. Later, some knowledge of it found it's way to the Greeks, giving us the groundwork needed for Western philosophy and the sciences.
Today, the hierarchical leader is Caucasia, India (Hindu), Tibet, Muslims (Sufi sects), and Jewish mysticism last. The present West Coast frenzy, though well sparked, as were the Hippie movement during the 1950s, have the identical problems, i.e., lack of knowledgeable leadership. No one knows where to go or to whom to turn or even what mysticism really is or where it leads.
The knowledge that even the lower rungs of mysticism can bring everlasting ecstasy, knowledge of sciences, peace within thyself, and a myriad of goodies, is too good to pass up.
Finally, interestingly, humans must take this evolutionary path for there is no other.
