Wicca is an Earth-based religion. Modern Wicca was popularized by Gerald Gardner in the 1970's in England. Essentially, Wiccans worship a god and a goddess, who are seen as manifestations of nature. The God is seen as a sun/wildlife deity, and the Goddess a moon/Earth deity.
Wiccans usually celebrate 8 holidays, summerized in the Wheel of the Year.
As we always say, ask 15 different Wiccans how the Craft is practiced, you'll get 23 different answers. However, there are two "laws" that most Wiccans live by. These are "Do as you will, if you harm none," and "Anything you do will come back upon you threefold." Very few Wiccans actually practice in a full coven, most are "solitaries" or learn from a few friends. Wiccans use many names or "aspects" for their deity, the most common being Diana and Cernunos. |
