Bilbo Baggins
							Bilbo Baggins is Frodo's uncle. Before the Lord of the Rings trilogy he was persuaded by Gandalf to go on a quest to find the treasures hidden by Smaug the Dragon. On this quest he found the Ring and earned the right to keep it by winning a riddle against Gollum. He took it back to Hobbiton in the Shire where it prolonged his life. At the beginning of the trilogy he is celebrating his eleventy-first birthday with a huge party, involving most of the Shire.
	Bilbo decides to leave the Shire to retire in Rivendell and see the Lonely Mountain again where he journeyed previously. The Ring is left in Frodo's hands. Frodo and Bilbo meet up again in Rivendell where Bilbo's age finally catches up with him. Bilbo stays in Rivendell during the Quest of the Ring.
