Legolas (but not Gimli) is dedicated to Harriet Boshier, my wonderful sister! |

Prince Legolas of the Woodland Realm has travelled south from his home in Mirkwood to represent his race in the fellowship. Like many of his people he has a distrust for dwarves as he cannot understand their continuous need for riches. To start with, this will mean a prickly relationship between Legolas and Gimli. Legolas is a superb shot with a bow and arrow and his keen elf eyes see more than other members of the fellowship. He will be a useful person to have around. |

Gimli son of Gloin came from the lonely mountain to represent his people in the quest of the ring. At the council of Elrond he volunteers to accompany Frodo and the ring, to help him destroy it. His race have a mistrust of elves due to their strange and sorcerous ways and to begin with, he is very wary of Legolas. Gimli is a great warrior and carries many weapons. In Moria he picks up the mighty two headed axe which is uses effectively and with confidence, especially at the battle of Helms Deep. |

Despite their differences, Legolas and Gimli become great friends during the quest. They have fun together as well as often rescuing each other from sticky situations. I think they represent the way that all races are coming together to fight of the evil that may cover middle earth in a second darkness and kill everything that is good if it is not stopped |
