Theoden, Boromir and Faramir.
King Theoden is the ruler of Rohan. He lives in Edoras, the highest dwelling in Rohan so he can keep an eye on everything that goes on. He becomes possessed by Saruman due to the continuous whisperings of Wormtongue (Sarumans servant) in his ear. However, Gandalf the White releases him from Saruman's hold and Theoden goes on to lead his army to an incredible victory at Helm's Deep.
Boromir is the son of Denethor. Denethor is the Steward of Gondor, who is ruling Gondor until the rightful king (Isildur's heir) returns. There is a lot of pressure on Boromir to ensure Gondor can continue to fight off the threat of Mordor for as long as possible as they are the nearest region to the Dark Lord. It is because of this pressure that he succomes to the power of the rings and tries to steal it from Frodo. However, he is a loyal friend to the fellowship and unbeknown to Frodo, dies while protecting Merry and Pippin from a band of ruthless Uruk-Hai, sent by Saruman to steal the ring from Frodo.
Faramir is Boromir's younger brother. He is the captain of a band of rangers who patrol the beautiful yet dangerous land of Ithilien. By chance, Faramir comes across Frodo, Sam and Gollum in the wilderness and is tempted, like his brother to take the ring to his father for use in Gondor. It is with Faramir that the freedom of the people in middle earth lie, for if he succombs to the power of the ring the race of men will fall into shadow.
