INTERNATIONAL LEAGUE OF PEOPLES' STRUGGLE

         15th KMU International Solidarity Affair

April 29-May 8, 1998

Theme:  " Further unite and advance militant unionism against imperialism"

Support the Formation of the International League of Struggle for Liberation

WORKERS and other oppressed peoples conduct struggles against the effects and origins of the same imperialist world system all over the world.  On the one hand, there is the profit-oriented and inhuman policy of the multinational companies, of their governments and international instruments like the IMF, WTO and World Bank.  On the other hand, there is growing worldwide resistance.

With the intensified imperialist attacks, there is an urgent need for greater cooperation and coordination of the forces opposed to imperialism.  Such a League of Struggle should be a kind of umbrella-organisation, having a coordinating function for the cooperation of various activities and on broad political basis.  It shall be a form of broad unification of the forces of:

  • the militant union, women, youth and peasant movement; the environmental, peace and international solidarity movement; movement against fascist and military terror;  revolutionary movements for national and social liberation.

Such a League of Struggle can only emerge from practice.  Therefore, a democratic processs of discussion shall be introduced that involves all the significant forces and movements.  Also the "Anti-imperialist Trade Union Forum" can be a part of such an International League of Struggle for Liberation.  KMU is given the  task of coordinating in the beginning for building the League in the Asia-Pacific.

The 15th KMU ISA welcomes the idea and declares to be willing to support the formation of such an organization.
