Mr. Kern, Mr. Neumeyer, Mrs. Bender, Mrs. Weiss, Mrs. Neumeyer, Mrs. Hetzner, Mrs. Grueber, Nonie, Sheri, Julie and Vicar John Schwartz wish to thank you for the many gifts, cards and money received at Christmas.  Your thoughtfulness is greatly appreciated and God's Blessings to all in 2002.

Mrs. Szymanski would like to give a big THANK YOU to everyone who remembered her during the Christmas season with their cards and gifts.  Each of you has touched my heart.  I wish you all the best this New Year.

Choir Schedule for January

This Sunday January 13th Children's Choir will sing at 8:00 service and Cherub Choir will sing at 10:30 service.

Junior Symphonic Band

The advanced band travels to Valley Lutheran High School this Friday January 11th.  Drivers are the parents of:  Tommy A., Justin & Courtney F.  David H. and Eric J.  Be ready to leave Immanuel at 12:45 pm, and pick up at Valley at 2:00 pm.  Drivers:  Please take the same riders each direction, and do not leave the parking lots until all the students are in a vehicle.

Lutheran Parent Magazine

This magazine is being sent home with your child today along with the Jive.  Points of interest are:

    *Guilt-How useful is it?    *The Shy Child    *What makes a good school?    

    *The value of Black History

Grades 1 & 2 Accelerated Reader Tests

*Second graders must pass three 2nd grade level or above tests for January

*First graders may attempt Accelerated Reader books-with a few guidelines for parents:

1. Book must be labeled Accelerated Reader on binding in order to take a test over it.

2. Book should be level 1 books for those starting out.

3. Read the book at home several times.

4. Student notifies Mrs. Hetzner when ready to take a test.

5. Student must successfully read and pass a test on the computer.

6. Be Positive!  Encourage them to try!

Ski Trip-Apple Mountain

Grades 5-8 received information last week with permission slip and other details.  Students can redeem tickets and tokens with Mr. Neumeyer.  The ski-trip will be on Tuesday January 15th.  Please return permission slip and payment ASAP.

Emergency School Closing Information

Closings or cancellations will be announced on radio and television, as well as by the Immanuel School phone tree.  Delays also will be communicated the same way.  Listen for closing or delays for Frankenmuth Public and Parochial Schools.

Pastor-Teacher Conference-No School

The annual meeting will be held Friday January 18th.  Students will not have classes on that day.  Pastors, vicars and teachers will gather at St. Lorenz church.

PTL Meeting

The next PTL meeting is Monday January 21st at 7:00 pm.  Our guest speaker for the evening will be Linda Nuechterlein.  Her topic will be on "Music and the Media" and she will be giving us some insight on the music children listen to. including our own Immanuel students.  Business meeting will follow.  Refreshments/set-up committee for the evening are:  Dale & Holly Gotham-Chairman, Jack & Tina Boening, Randy & Cheryl Schaeff.

Boys Basketball

Next game: Wednesday January 16th at Home against St. Paul Lapeer @ 4:30.

Concession workers are:  Mary & Gerry H.,  Sheryl & Jim S.,  Vickie & Jeff S., Kim & Jeff H., Deb R., Kim & Reggie W., and Nancy F.  Please be at the school at least 1 hour before the game for set-up and ticket sales, and after the game for clean-up.
