The Philippines is one of the most unique places on earth. It is a land of magnificent beauty, warm and friendly people, and full of unique sights, fragrances and sounds!  Here are just a few!  Unfortunately, I can't share any smells or tastes with you!

Before I get to far into this section, I need to fulfill a promise. I must confess 2 things here: First I lost the eMail address, but I'm sure I can get it again, and second I forgot the young womans name. She was part of te Bogobo house housekeeping staff. She was very pleasant, friendly and is interested in meeting an American guy. Her English skills are fairly good also. Here are a couple of pictures of her. If you'd like to contact her, contact me first by eMail with Bogobo House Girl in the Subject line. Bogobo House Lovely Lady and Bogobo House's Finest.

This little girl was so precious to me. I don't know her name, but to myself and Evelyn, I refered her to "the little bag girl". In my first encounter with her she was trying to sell me a plastic bag outside of Gaisano Mall near the friut vendors in the street.  I didn't need a bag, but she was persistant and very patient waiting for me until she had my attention to ask me if I would buy one of her bags.  Girl selling bags   This money would she earned from selling bags will provide for the needs that she and her family would have on a daily basis.   I would give her the change in my pocket to help her meet her needs.   She followed us around the corner as we were getting into a cab to thank me for the money.   That's when I took this picture and tossed her 5 pesos (a lot of money for her) which she easily caught.   As I tossed it to her and noticed she had good, soft hands, the kind you want for catching a baseball.

Before I left I gave her and the other   Street Kids some excitement.   I had a lot of one peso coins and as they surrounded me I would get a handful and toss in in the air and I would pass by as they scrambeled for the coins.   I always wanted to do that.   Next time I'll use higher value coins.   I love giving to those in need. I want to give freely, but not to the point it diminishes their sense of self reliance or self respect like welfare does.

On our return trip to the Philippines in March 2007, I did not see this little girl, but saw other sights I'll include later possibly of kids that are truly street kids, who live 24/7 on the streets without a parent or home.
