Crowd Go Wild After Local Hero Darius Dons Kilt |
Darius Danesh came home to Scotland with the Pop Idol tour last night. And the heart-throb earned a huge roar from almost 10,000 fans at Glasgow's SECC when he took to the stage decked out in Highland dress. His Kilt and sporran sent the crowd wild. Earlier, volleys of underwear hit the stage as the Scots star belted out Tom Jones' It's Not Unusual. The pants-throwing may have been stage-managed but there was no hiding the fans' true affection for the 21-year-old who only finished third on the show. Darius said: "It's so good to be home, I can't thank you enough." And echoing the phrase which had made him a national figure of fun in Popstars, he added: "There's a lot of love in the room." But the Bearsden boy has transformed himself into a sex symbol as the thunderous screams in response to his gyrating on stage proved. Earlier, Darius and his family had been mobbed by fans as they arrived for the Pop Idol extravaganza. Mum Avril said: "This is overwhelming. Everything is happening so fast for Darius, we are so proud of him tonight." Thankyou to the Daily Record for the story |
