Darius Set To Be A Bug Star |
Pop hunk Darius has got a blindin' future ahead of him. The singer from Bearsden, near Glasgow, went from Pop Stars villain to Pop Idol hero within 12months and deserves enormous credit for his determination to get to the top. And now with his excellent new single Colourblind out on Monday, Darius is set to get the hit he so badly wants. Darius, 21, wrote the song after his first Pop Idol audition. And he explained: "With all themusic I like, I want to believe the person that's singing. "It doesn't affect me if I hear a pop song that's sung by a prepubescent kid who doesn't know what it's really like to fall in love and have your heart broken. "Hopefully I can say at the tender age of 21 that I've had my heart broken and maybe I've broken a heart along the way too." |
Hectic |
And just like his music, Darius has a heartfelt passion for motors with character. Despite not having passed his driving test yet, he loves cars - especially Beetles and Herbie, nicknamed The Love Bug. I caught up with the charming Pop Idol during his hectic build up to the releaseof Colourblind. SUN MOTORS: How many driving lessons have you had? DARIUS: Half a dozen, I tend to learn fast...especially as i was a student on a budget. SUN MOTORS: Volkswagen Beetle or BMW Mini? DARIUS: The new Beetle beats the old Mini, but it's a tough call between the new Mini and an old Beetle. SUN MOTORS: What's the best music to listen to in the car? DARIUS: Easy. The Beatles or my new single Colourblind. SUN MOTORS: Have you ever got intimate in a car? DARIUS: That's a story only a Volvo 850 estate could tell! SUN MOTORS: Do you prefer a woman in a flash car or just an old banger? DARIUS: Unfortunately, even in the summer you're more likely to see a flash car driven by an old banger! SUN MOTORS: Which person are you most jealous of because of the car they drive? DARIUS: Simon Cowell drives a beautiful Ferrari. But it's hard to be jealous of him when his trousers go higher than the top of the steering wheel. SUN MOTORS: Which car would you give your worst enemy? DARIUS: Del Boy's three-wheeler Robin Reliant yellow van from Only Fools And Horses. SUN MOTORS: What was more nerve-wracking, your first driving lesson or first time live on TV? DARIUS: First driving lesson definitely. I swear the driving instructor was previously an SAS drill commander, he made Nasty Nigel look like a pussy-cat. SUN MOTORS: What is your dream car? DARIUS: I'd have to say KITT from Knight Rider. SUN MOTORS:If you were a car, what would you be? DARIUS: Herbie the Beetle from Herbie Goes Bananas. He was fun and never took himself too seriously. |
