Chloe packed her things slowly, looking at everything. She placed clothing into a bag, and several pictures. One was a charcoal drawing by a girl at Ryslen of Beky, andother was a charcoal picture one of the young men had drawn of Chloe herself. She smiled, remembering the sadness on his face when Bekith had graduated. Chloe and Beky were now headed for Keandyn Weyr. There they would be among other Pernese dragons, and only a short distance from Ryslen. Bekith was looking forward to rise, now that she had grown. Well, she had always been ready to fly, ever since she hatched. Chloe sighed, and looked over at her lifemate. Beky was stretching, preparing for the flight between to Keandyn Weyr. She stretched out her wings, the afternoon sun sparkling off of her. Chloe was sad to be leaving, but couldn't wait to get to her new home.
Come on, Chloe. Let's FLY already!
Several sevndays after they reached Keandyn Weyr, Chloe was called into the Weyrwoman's workroom. Chloe went in nervously, and sat in a seat.
"Hello Chloe," said Weyrwoman Lissa with a smile. Chloe's nervousness went away slowly- the Weyrwoman was kind, and had a smile that could make anyone feel better. Of course, she also had quite a temper, but that's another story.
"Hello Lissa."
"No doubt you're wondering why I called you here." Chloe shook her head. "Well, the other Searchriders-" She pointed in the back of the room, and Chloe was startled to see S'nan and Naeda. She hadn't noticed them before. "- seem to think that you and Bekith would make wonderful Searchers for our Weyr. It seems Bekith has a knack for it... She's already Searched Galadrian, who stood and Impressed. I don't think you've heard about that, have you?" Chloe shook her head. Searchrider? Her?
"Well, what do you think? Would you like to be a Searchrider?" Chloe was thinking, pondering, still shocked.
I'll say she does! And me too! A Searchdragon, wow! That's wonderful! Bekith's voice startled Chloe, and she laughed.
"Of course we'll do it. I can't wait!"
