One of the greatest gifts that God has given me is the gift of music.  I love all kinds.   I've written several songs.  I love to write songs for Him, but I also love to write your "ordinary ol' love songs"-which I have written many of, too.  Scroll below for a few of my songs (lyrics)!
When I'm not playing my guitar, I'm working with the deaf as an Interpreter, certified by TCDHH.  I love my work!   I work mostly in the Lubbock area doing community interpreting and I also sub for interpreters in the Lubbock Independent School District.  It's great to be back there again!
11 years ago,  I attended college at the SouthWest Collegiate Institute for the Deaf (or SWCID, for short, pronounced "swid")  in Big Spring, TX.  It was an awesome experience, and I would recommend it to anyone interested in becoming an interpreter.  You are submerged into the deaf culture, lifestyle, and language!  For more info, click on

Music is basically in my genes!  My dad, Arnie Monroe, currently resides in Santa Maria, CA where he is a professional trumpet player, and plays regularly in jazz and big bands.  His band can often be seen live at various places around mid-coast California.)  My dad was a member of the Churck Cabot band back in the late 50's, and 60's, recording several big band albums.  Music is a big part of my background, which I have proudly passed on to my boys!
It was great to be back in my homestate of California, but even more wonderful spending time with my father, and watching my son play trumpet with him!
While in Nashville,  Vance just picked up the Mandolin for the 1st time and began jamming during one of my songs in the session...so we left it in the song!!  It was great!  Here he is on the couch in the studiochecking out the electric guitar while Zachary had "fun" with the mic and sound effects!
In between interpreting and playing my guitar, I love to grab my Nikon and drive out in the country!  Photography has been a hobby of mine since the early 90s.  Some of my pics can be seen on our frist page of our home page, as well as this page.
I miss you
by Julia Stephens

I miss you, your laugh, your smile
The way you let me know
You'ld never let me go
I miss you, words of truth and love
That made me stop and see
You meant so much to me

Since you've been gone I've had
an emptiness in my life
That only God Himself can fill
But still sometimes I cry

I see you, still in your room
Knowing what to say
To brighten up my day
I see you, Still in my heart
A friend like no other
I miss you, Mother.

For my mom 3/6/33-10/13/98

The most said quote in the Word of God:
"With God, ALL things are possible!"
I believe this 100 %!  It's
not written "all things, except..."-yet ALL things!!!!!  It's that awesome!
You're Beautiful
Julia Stephens

You're beautiful in all you do
One of God's finest, that's you
And when you touch my hand I can't believe
Someone so beautiful is here with me

You're beautiful words can't explain
Like a moonlit sky-a soft spring rain
The sun that sets for the night; the stars that
                                                ever glow
More beautiful than anyone I know

More than just your eyes
More than just your smile
Something deep inside-I've seen for just awhile

You're beautiful-one of a kind
Someone like you is so hard to find
Never will there be another quiet like you
You're beautiful, I love you
You're beautiful, I love you

I've Loved You
Julia Stephens

ll care for you; nurture you
Bring you back to my arms
I'll give you my heart

I'll carry you;  pray for you
Always be by your side
My love will never die

My love, please know how strong
My love is
The width, length, depth, and height of my love
Let me call you mine

I'll cry with you; stay with you
Never leave nor forsake you
I've loved you all along

What Jesus would say to all of us!

My brother-n-law, who recently relocated to Austin with his lovely wife and daughter , used to own a music studio in Nashville, TN--where they resided, Pollydog Records.  One  summer I was privileged to be able to go into the studio to cut a mini-6 song cd of some songs I've written.  It was a great experience!!!! Hold Me Close
by Julia Stephens

I
t's Your smile that takes me to another place
Away from hidden fear
To where our heart beats race...

Time stands still---Holdin every moment tight...
The only one's here-you and me
And the majic of this night....

So hold me close
Wrap your lovin' arms around me baby
And I'll take my hands..hold your face near mine
Hold me near
Feel the warmth of your body
Hear the beating of our hearts
In 2 part harmony
