FYI's A popular misconception of tanning beds is that it is worse than the real sun, this is false mainly because tanning beds are scientifically calibrated amounts of UV light.  When used according to FDA exposure guidelines (posted on each bed) tanning beds are designed to maximize tanning and minimize burning.  In the 1920's Coco Chanel invented the tan as a status symbol in Hollywood.  The tanning bed was invented in the 1970's.  All sunbeds and tanning booths used in salons are regulated by the FDA as Class II medical devices.  Tanning beds can be used to treat acne, eczema, and other common skin problems.
