KEEP ON SINGING

KEEP ON SINGING

Please keep on singing, you have the gift of voice.
Don't ever give up on life, you always have a choice.
The gifts you have within your soul, are only yours to share,
For you can't always give your gifts to people that are fair.
The world is full of opportunity, that is waiting just for you.
Please take full advantage, of every rainbows hue.
For painted inside you deeply, is a portrait that is grand,
Every stroke is brushed quite carefully, not one color is bland.
The many colors of the picture tell a story quite profound,
Let yourself land safely and walk gently on the ground.
If you try hard enough you can be so very cunning,
Just don't get a taste of life and then take off running.
Your all important dreams are always worth the chase,
You are just a runner, and you might just win the race.
For like any song that you will ever sing out loud,
You must face things directly,, and turn towards the crowd.
It might not be the easy way to get just what you need,
But getting what you want does not mean your full of greed.
It only means you know yourself well enough to know,
That having all your dreams come true, will truly help you grow.
As long as you remember that only you can decide,
If everything you want is really worth the ride.

THE KEEPER
I will always do my best to to keep your life from rain.
But I can't be the only one that fights against your pain.
We are in this thing together but it is you that has to fight.
No one else can do this for you, or bring you to the light.
When the winds blow stongly against you, the forces that gale,
Save yourself from this storm that beats you down with hail.
Now it is your turn to take over your care,
I will love you always but I can't always be there.
I know the pain within you well, but I must now refrain.
The rest of what you will now become I can not restrain.
I will listen and point the way and hope its the right direction,
As much as I may want to I won't offer you my protection.
I will offer you a shoulder when you need someone to hear.
But I can't take away all the things in life that you fear.
I'll pray always and forever, as I set you free to fly,
I want nothing but rainbows and to never see you cry.
My hopes and dreams for you are nothing but the norm,
I will forever be the keeper of your storms.

~~When One Looks in the Mirror~~
When one looks in the mirror
at the person they see,
sometimes they wonder
who is that looking at me?
********
They put on a smile
before facing the day and
though their heart may feel heavy
they push their cares away.
********
In their eyes there's a sparkle
on their brow not a frown,
and when ready to go
they're up, never down.
********
There's no sign of trouble
on the mask that they wear,
and if you didn't know them
You'd think they hadn't a care.
********
But under the mask
there's lost dreams and some pain,
and a deep well of strength
that fills again and again.
********
Most never look deeper
than the mask that is worn,
what they see on the surface
is all that is known.
********
But, oh what they're missing
by not lifting the mask,
for the surface is never
the place one should bask.
********
The core of a person
is what you must know,
and if you look deep inside,
their real self will show.
********
The privilege of knowing
a person that deep,
is truly a treasure,
filled with memories to keep.
********
Most people know heartache
and have a story to tell,
but they're wearing a mask
to cover their hell.
********
Adversity met
and risen above,
fills a person with depth
and teaches great love.
********
So, don't take for granted
just what you see,
Look under the mask,
where the real person will be.
********
The person God knows!

STORMS

We have watched the seasons change, within a single day,
We've seen their searing heat succumb
to lonely skies of winter's gray. We have seen their silver lining fade before our eyes.
Clouds with scorched and blackened edges scattered in the skies.

Lightning out of nowhere, storms that rage within.
Dreamscapes filled with terror, nightmares never end.
Heaven lies before them, submerged in fiery flames.
Calling through the silence, we hear them speak our names.

For we are the watchers,
The keepers of the storm.
We have tamed the lightning,
Protecting them from harm.
Ever standing sentry,
Holding back the rains.
Sheltering their wearied souls,
From thunder's harsh refrain.
Dams that won't be broken,
We detain the flooding tides.
A vigil left unspoken
Until the front subsides.

We stand our post unyielding to, the pending hurricanes.
Twisters dance upon their souls, yet we shall bear the pain.
Shouldering the weight for them, when they can fight no more.
Guarding them from tidal waves, that break on peaceful shores.

Fatigue is our companion and, we rest on beds of nails.
The minds' eye ever watchful of, the winds that tell the tale.
Blowing - ever shifting - we shall see the signs again.
For we have learned to listen to the voices of the wind.

For we are the watchers,
The keepers of the storm.
We can tame the lightning,
Shielding them from harm.
Ever standing sentry,
Holding back the rains.
Sheltering their wearied souls,
From thunder's harsh refrains.
Dams that won't be broken.
We will stand the tests of time.
Our vigil is our hope and -
We will see the front subside.

To every parent reading this and the untold
numbers of others who "climb on their hands and knees
through the broken glass, everyday"
as my husband puts it, to give their kids
a fighting chance.

Know that "doing all we can" is all we can do.
