The Agora
A place for supporters of In Apolo’s Name to greet and gather

Welcome to the Agora for the In Apolo’s Name project! Just like Apolo’s name, the Agora also comes from Greek origin, meaning a gathering place. So gather, be part of the community, and peruse the opinions and thoughts laid before you. Then feel free to publicize your own comments via the tag board to the right, the guest book below, or by emailing Velma or Racci at inapolosname@yahoo.com.

This page includes: a tag board, guest book links, feedback from emails and letters, a download link for the project theme song, contact information, and a cute picture of Apolo.

Sweetheart Feedback

“I’m feeling disappointed that the donations aren’t pouring in quickly like we all hoped they would . . . I just hate to see us fail to raise enough to at least get a room in his name.  I guess we shouldn’t consider not achieving that goal a failure. After all, the Ronald McDonald house will benefit no matter what the amount raised, but it would be so nice to give this honor to Apolo.”

“Hello Velma and Racci! I want to say THANK YOU both for such a wonderful idea and making it possible for us to contribute on behalf of Apolo. The dedication you two have put into the Web site and the whole project is awesome.  I’m so happy and proud to be a part of it! . . .  Take care and keep up the great work!”

“This is truly a wonderful cause, and I cannot tell you much I  appreciate you all creating a site with all of the information to donate. I would have never known that I could help out, if it weren't for this site. I just wanted to say thank you, and that I feel very special to have been a part of this project. Thanks!”

You two are wonderful for coming up with this idea. Dont get discouraged. Things are slow in the summer. I've been meaning to donate, but have been away. I hope you had a chance to read the interview on Ohno Zone. It certainly motivated me to write a check. Apolo has done much to enrich my life. (Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks? Im trying to learn about Zen and meditation.) Donating in Apolo’s name is a small way to give something back for all his inspiration. Thank you for this opportunity.”

“You guys are doing a great job! I was really hoping that AAO could get to the $25,000 mark and get an apartment in his name at the RMH.  You figure if only 1,000 fans sent in $25 it would be a done deal. I realize that money is tight for many of the younger fans.  That’s why is sent in $100 . . . seriously, when I think about what my teenager spends on makeup and CDs, $25 doesnt seem so outrageous.”

“I just wanted to drop a quick line to let you guys know that you are amazing for keeping up the IAN project . . . YOU TOTALLY ROCK!!!! Im just lucky enough to be part of all these wild and crazy fan of this beautiful man. Keep up the good work . . . I promise I will send in my receipt as soon as I receive it. Thanks again!!!”

“ . . . Let me say how much I appreciate your idea and the time spent putting together the In Apolo’s Name project. I’m sure many more people will donate to the cause and it will be very successful. I plan to donate when I can. I had (originally planned) to donate to the Humane Society in memory of my cat – but I really want to see the RMH get that grant! I’m sure many fans will be able to help with various fund-raising ideas.”

“I just wanted to tell you that your idea is wonderful!  You should be given a big hug for your kind heart.”

“ . . . I think everyone who donates any amount of money is great! My friends and I are going to have a g-sale and all the money that I raise is going to In Apolos Name!”

“ . . . (The In Apolos Name project) is a beautiful tribute to Apolo. There are thousands of celebrities in the world, and many of them give their heartfelt support to charities. However, I think its unusual for a large group of fans to band together in support like this. I am sure Apolo will be appreciative of your creativity and your thoughtfulness in putting this together.”

6.05.02, email from Joanna Blackwell

“ . . . Thanks for starting In Apolos Name! Its a great idea and it'll help so many people! It's a wonderful way for all us Apolo fans to show our appreciation.” :)

Musical Note From Velma

When I first put this site together, I tried to embed a song by the New Radicals. Ya’ know that one big radio hit they had — “You Get What You Give.” I thought that would be the perfect theme song for this endeavor. Alas, the embedding never worked — not that I know of anyway.

However, if you are interested in listening to a little  music while reading or writing your donation check  ;)  , click here. The mp3/wma will begin to download. It should open up a Windows Media Player window that plays the song while leaving this page open.

Of course, this will work out the best if you have the latest version of Internet Explorer, Windows Media Player, and a DSL connection or better. Don’t be discouraged if you don’t have these. It will just take a little longer for the song to download. If you have any problems with this process, please let us know.
