information & support for patients and their families
IST (Inappropriate Sinus Tachycardia) is a rare and often misunderstood cardiac arrhythmia (heart rhythm disturbance). People with IST live not only with the symptoms and effects of the condition; but with the apparent lack of knowledge amongst many healthcare professionals.

Please take a few minutes to read this important information.

People with IST often have a resting heart rate that is abnormally high and even a tiny bit of exertion will usually cause their heart rate to jump even higher, causing them to possibly experience palpitations, shortness of breath and other
symptoms.

Our message boards can be found here - please take a moment to stop by and introduce yourself :-) where you can find many others with IST. Share your experiences, meet others and ask questions.

You are not alone
and there are treatments available.

On this site you will find information on IST, what it is, tests used for diagnosis, medications and other possible treatment options, plus information on how to
find a cardiac electrophysiologist (a cardiologist who specialises in heart rhythm problems).

If you are very new to IST try visiting our
IST - FAQ section.

If you are living with IST - wether you are diagnosed or not.........
you are not alone - find links to support groups and our message board and information about getting help with a diagnosis and treatment.
