Band History
James, Mike and Toby are flying the Myth flag now but how did it all start?
Early 2001 school friends James Waller (guitar) and Toby Anderson (then also on guitar) decided they wanted to form a band. To help them out they brought in Toby's brother Simon (drums,) Tom White (vocals) and some strange boy that James used to sit next to in his Graphics lessons, Mike Lewis (bass.)
After a few practices things looked promising and Sane By Day were born, having learnt several covers including Amazed by The Offspring and The Buffey theme. Despite the promising talent, after the summer of 2001 they petered out due to lack of commitment.
In October 2001 though Mike was eager to clench his musical thirst again and formed Incidental Myth. He asked James and Toby (now on drums) from Sane By Day and his old school pal Dave Marklew to play lead guitar. Since their first practice there was magic.
Since Mike had grown pretty stuck up by then he refused to play any covers leading to an 8-strong originals set by the time of their first gig in February 2002.
Growing dreams of stardom though meant in the summer of 2002 they would scrap their entire set in search of better songs. They then wrote songs as a collective for the first time and soon got a local buzz about them with more high profile gigs.
After a while though Dave parted ways in search of fame fronting his metal side-project (ME)dia. So in the summer of 2003 carrying on as a three-piece James, Mike and Toby again scrapped their entire set and wrote their best material to date taking form as Art Grunge.
Sounding progressive yet alternatively melodic they are getting bigger every day with sights set on a record deal. The Myth are out there doing it, hope you like the music.
