The koi fish design and the "om mani padme" hum tattoo

Both Brandon and Jose have a tattoos of a kio fish with an eye in the middle. It's a design by Jose (see the fish below) in buddahism Koi fish symbolises the all living beings in a state of fearlessness, without danger of drowning in the ocean of sufferings,  just as fish swim freely without fear through water.

It's a tibetan mantra "Om mani padme hum" which means 'hail to the jewel in the  lotus'.  One of it's teachings is that when the mind and heart become united, anything is possible. For more information about this and Mantras in general click here

Crop circle and Mantra tattoos:

Brandon got the idea for this tattoo  from a crop circle formation that was found near Barbary castle, in Wiltshire, England in 1991. (pic of the crop circle above). He also used the picture on sevrel of his drawings (on the right) for some more info on this crop circle and others, click here.

This one's a mantra circle and the letters around in the lotus leafs are the same as on the red tattoo - 'om mani padme hum'. I read once that the center means something like 'center' or 'one'. For move info click here.

Here are two pictures of Brandon's back tattoo. It's of an owl. It's his second tattoo that he got at age 17. He designed it himself.

What brandon said about his tattoos:

Here's what Brandon said about his tattoos on an interview from around 2000: "my first tattoo is one on my hip - a dream-catcher. i got it with my older brotherly rite of passage thing. you're not supposed to get tattooed that young, so i borrowed a friend's id who was 19. i knew his first and last name and address. so they took my id and go 'chris, huh? what's your middle name?' i was like 'i don't have one, they must have put something in there.' "i got my first two tattooes unbeknown to my dad. when i was 17 i drew a picture of an owl, and it was going to be on my back, so i sat my dad down man to man, and said, 'dad, i'm getting a tattoo.' since then he hates it, but... this top one first, it's part of a picture that i drew. it's a common tibetan mantra, which is supposed to be a cry for liberation and is supposed to generate compassion for all sentient beings. in english, it's 'hail to the jewel of the lotus.' both of these are of real crop circles that were found in 1991. this is at barbary castle, and this was found under oliver's castle in england. it's three crescent moons intertwined with two satellites, and this one is a tetrahedron, a prominent, sacred geometryfigure."
