Kent State University Press has released a new book about the 32nd Indiana Infantry entitled: August Willich's Gallant Dutchmen: Civil War Letters from the 32nd Indiana Infantry. The book contains a unique collection of letters written by several officers and men of Indiana's highly acclaimed 1st German Indiana Regiment.

The letters were of translated and edited by Joseph R. Reinhart.

Regiment lost during service 7 Officers and 174 Enlisted men killed and mortally wounded and 1 Officer and 96 Enlisted men by disease. Total 268.
