A gaming experience for the intelligent, mature audience
Fear Effect games are brilliant and imaginative. There also pretty jiggly. At the same time, there's a strong "friendship" between the two sexy lesbian characters Hana and Rain. There's some very strong language, a lot of mistrust, some blood and gore, and a lot of gunplay.

So what are Fear Effect games? If you want a clear definition, I can't give one to you. If I tried explaining anything related to the game, I would steer off the subject and talk how nice Rain looks in the second level. Heck, I can't tell you what the games are, you just need to buy them.

If you're into women exchanging a little love in an elevator, then this game is for you. Even if you're female, you'll dig the sweet gameplay (although the controls are a little too complex) and graphics. The acting is also very, very well done, with some surprising plot twists throughout the game. The story is driven by rage, betrayal, and a strong, dark interaction between the characters.

The graphics are nothing short of spectacular. There are no graphical glitches, and the anime-style graphics are perfectly done. This game is virtually an interactive anime, and the characters all have unique styles, shadings, and details. The background is static, and it's always moving. The background is nicely put to cartoon format. There's no slowdown either.

My complaints are very small, but oh so big. The controls are next to impossible to master. Sure, you'll actually train yourself to learn them just so you can see some more of this game's offers, but they're confusing and too complex. Every button is used, and the weapon-selection layout is clunky and confusing, and then it gets really confusing when you're trying to open doors and objects. (Triangle?!) Plus, you can't customize the controls, so I had to mark down some points from this category.

My advice is to buy the game, because it's something different; it's not your ordinary game. Do you like violence, sex, nudity, and over-the-top mature themes? Do you like secretive, dark, haunting characters with an icy core? Fear Effect 2 is for you. Games need more creativity like this.
