Timesplitters |
Timesplitters has anything you would ever want. Fast-paced action, a high framerate, and a Chinese chef with a rocket launcher! The game is also a blast to play. Multiplayer is truly the funnest part of this game, yet Story mode can (and should) be played with two players! This game is simply awesome. But it needs a patient gamer. This is because the difficulty is extremely hard. It takes a while to master the AI, and you still won't get it. Thanks to Timesplitters' super-deadly AI, a simple shot at you could wipe you out in one hit. Yes, this AI has the ability to give head-shots. It gets rather difficult when the AI goes for your head or chest instead of your limbs. Another great thing about Timesplitters is the Mapmaker. This allows the player to create his or her own level, and you can make it really huge. There are loads of tweaking options too. You can select what guns you want to have placed in your level, where they are placed...you can even change the color of the lights! This is just one of the things that add to the game's depth and fun factor. Are there any complaints? Few. For one, I never mentioned that the AI was smart, instead I called it "super-deadly." The AI has its drawbacks. Sure, you get some pretty tough combat, but the AI is sometimes incredibly cheap. Especially when you have the Chef with a rocket launcher. He gets the gun and won't put it down. Every single time, he hits you with it, killing you. This isn't exactly fair by any means, that is why the AI isn't really that great. Another complaint about the AI is that sometimes your computer-player "friends" stay in one place, never moving again. It's called a glitch, and Timesplitters has few, but this is the biggest glitch. You have to kill your computer-played partners to get them out of the stationery glitch, which is sad. But what if you play multiplayer with the friendly fire turned off, like we do? Well, then I guess you will have to wait for your enemies to kill off the poor glitch victim. A downright disgust. Nevertheless, Timesplitters is worth owning. It's one of the greatest FPS games ever, and it gets my vote for 2000 game of the year. |
