A Message from Martin Bell to the Wiltshire Independent Group

We told Martin about this web site a few days after setting it up.  He very kindly sent us the thoughts below for inclusion here and for use in group publications.

A growing dissatisfaction with the regimentation of party politics has led many people to favour the Independent option. The party system, although necessary, is not the be-all and end-all of a live democracy.  I believe that there is a need for more Independents at both the local and national level.  They consider every issue on its merits.  They speak with a distinctive voice.  They provide a corrective to the occasional failures of party politics. The Independent candidates in Wiltshire have my full support.                                  Martin Bell
