An Introduction to Islam
Islam means submission, meaning submission to the will of God. Muslim, means one who is a believer in Islam and submits themselves to God. In Islam Allah is known as the one and only God. He is the same God worshipped by Jews and Christians. There are believed to be approximately  124,000 prophets and messengers, who were sent to earth by God. Prophet Adam being the first and Muhammad being the last.
Islam is known as the fastest growing religion in the world. Many will find it surprising to know that the majority of converts are in fact women. However, Islam does not teach, nor do Muslims want, people to convert due to fear, greed, marriage, or any other form of pressure. They feel people may convert if they. themselves, are willing to.
There are many beliefs in Islam. One of them being about birth. Muslims believe that when people are born they are free from any sins. It's only after they reach the age of puberty that they are judged based on their mistakes. However, forgiveness can also be granted for those realizing their mistakes. Marriage is believed to bring two people together. Both male and female have certain rights and duties as a husband and wife.
In Islam, there are many teachings and verses written in their holy book, known as the Quran. This religion has been around for a very long time, but it's message is very clear.
