WHAT'S NEW?

Virtual Set #5 is here! (06.02.03)
Well, first of all, if you don't have the set, GET IT NOW!
Now that that's out of the way, let's move on to my thoughts. Even withoutreading the cards, this set looks great. No, literally, this set LOOKS great. The PC tried something new, which rather than just making text boxes, they'd revamp the whole card to look like the classic SWCCG mottif. Work has it that there may even be a white text on black background textbox for DS coming soon. The PC has feared that this move may not be favorable for players because of the heavy burden it places on ink cartridges, however thus far most have said that having LS cards look just like they normally would is worth it. (If you haven't already voted on whether you think the new look is worth the ink,
vote now.)

I personally like the look ad would love to see the previous to be re-done to look like V5. I'll offer my commentary on the gameplay of the cards theeselves a bit later when I have time (I really Jedi Levitation, Secure Route, Bron Burs, and Rayc Ryjerd - Kessel Running is fun in Step, even if it's not popular - for the LS. Son of Skywalker and Yoda provide a huge boost to training, ensuring that you can get test 1 on table on the first turn. Scrammabled Transmission will help a LOT of decks. The DS has some interesting cards: Bad Feeling Have I and Location, Location, Location help Hunt Down in addition to several other decks (Endor Operations loves Location, Location, Location). I'm a little disappointed to see them hurt Speeders but not Walkers - imho, Imperial Occupation is much more of a dominant deck than Local Uprising, although maybe that's just my meta. Even if they hurt the non-unique variant but provided a boost to those that use the more card-intensive unique speeder intensive, that would be fine with me.

It'll be interesting to see the new meta that these cards create.

SWCCG vs. SWTCG (9.15.02)
It was reported at Orgins that an impressive 68 people showed up for the SWCCG Open (not bad for a 'dead' game). Meanwhile, the Wizards game drew a reported fraction of that amount for the ENTIRE convention. In fact, the open for the TCG drew a very disappointing 16 people! It seems that people can find their dice fix in other games, like Yahtzee and Craps... (speaking of Crap, has anyone played the TCG?).

Until next time,

May the Force be with you -
