Indian Peaks Wilderness

(all pictures are links to larger images)

The Indian Peaks Wilderness borders the southern end of Rocky. It was our first hike there but certainly not our last.

We started out from the Mitchell Creek Trailhead on a beautiful morning under a perfect Colorado blue sky. A sign at the trailhead warning of mountain lion activity in the area, along with informaton about what to do if attacked, kept us VERY alert during the hike.

Mitchell is a beautiful lake only a mile from the traihead.

The area between Mitchell and Blue Lake is filled with streams, small lakes and wild flowers.

Blue Lake sits in a stark setting three miles from the trailhead.
