Chris beat me to it, and posted more pictures of Pandora!

On December 19, 1998, we adopted from the Humane Society of Boulder Valley a beautiful, sweet little puppy named Pandora. She was 8 weeks old when we adopted her and she is about half rottweiler and half german shepherd. Below, our first picture of her:

What a little sweetie!

Now, new pictures!!!

Here is a cute one!

Very sweet... it's Pandorable!

Very cute... look at her big eyes!

Kind of a silly one...

Also cute!

On a walk we took around a lake near our house!

More pictures of Pandora to come as time goes on. Here is an FAQ of things people have asked me many times about this dog so far:

Q: How do the cats feel about you getting a new puppy?
A: Annabelle and Kyra seem to be ok about the whole thing although clearly, a new puppy coming into the house would not have been their preference.

Q: Where's Kyra? Is she gone forever?
A: Surprisingly, no. She's around a lot, seemingly out of curiousity about what this new animal in the house is. In fact, she even seems to be around more often than she used to, and she's hating Chris and me MUCH less than she does when we, say, cut her nails. She isn't avoiding Chris or me like the plague and in fact is often more lovey to us than before!

Q: How do the cats and dog interact with each other?
A: Pandora wants to play puppy-style and the cats just aren't into that. She chases them around and they hiss at her. Sometimes. Other times, Pandora and a cat will lay peacefully about a foot away from each other and Pandora even lays low on the ground to signify that she realizes whichever kitty it is has "Alpha status" over her. That can last a few seconds up to several minutes, depending how tired Pandora is, or how antsy the cat is. Then, Pandora will chase the cat away or the cat will disappear of her own will. Once, Kyra approached Pandora while Pandora was sleeping and batted Pandora really hard on the head and then ran away.

Q: How do you like having a puppy?
A: It's a lot of work and a lot of fun at the same time. Right now Pandora is curled up at my feet asleep while I am typing.... She can be a real sweetie, but when she gets playful and bites a lot, I don't really like it. We are training her, though, so she won't bite us any more.

Q: That's great that you got Pandora from the Humane Society! How did that come about?
A: We've adopted all our animals from the Humane Society and we strongly feel that all animals that everyone has should be adopted from the Humane Society. I think that people getting animals from a private breeder is ok if a person wants to get a certain kind of animal, but I have seen the conditions most pet shops keep their animals in, and I believe it's cruel and unfair to the animals. I would not buy an animal from a pet shop because I feel it is supporting cruelty to animals. (Of course, I do not think *you* are a bad person if you get animals from a pet shop, but I would do my best to educate you about the choice the Humane Society offers you if I found out you had a preference of pet shops.)

Q: What I meant was, how come you got Pandora *now*?
A: Oh, I see. Well, we had originally intended to get a puppy in spring time, but I went to the Humane Society and played with the puppies and fell in love with Pandora. I'd intended to go to the Humane Society to fill out a profile of what kind of dog I wanted to get in spring so that they would call me when that dog came in (many humane societies have programs such as this; contact your local one for more details) but made the "mistake" of playing with the puppies and falling in love with Pandora. But how could anyone not love this little sweetie??? We had to get her now.
