What? |
Why? |
Allergents, chemical gases, and odors come into your house on clothing, furnishings, and building materials, sometimes emitting these elements for a long time. | Newer buildings are more hazardous than older buildings by design since those contaminants are still very active. |
Home cleaning products, hair products and many personalcare products contain many noxious and toxic chemical compunds that can linger indefinitely in average homes | Long-term exposure to these chemicals leads to various illness, e.g., memory loss, shoulder and back pain, etc. |
Mold Spores are one of the most common allergens and can flourish under carpets, in your heating/cooling system, walls, drapes, and furniture. | EPA reported that the severity of indoor air pollution is 2 to 5 times of outdoor in industrial environment. |
Cigarette smoke produces THOUSANDS of chemicals (CYANIDE and FORMALDEHYDE among them). | Over 3000 non-smokers die every yeear just being in the room with smokers. |
The present air handling system in your building can become a virtual paradise for things such as MOLD SPORES, DUST MITES (and their FECES), BACTERIA, and DUST. Every time the system is on, these contaminants are distributed throughout the building! | 42,000 DUST MITES can live in a
single ounce of dust! Your pillow might carry over 200,000 of them. |
Dust itself is primarily composed of the dead skin flakes and dander of every person and animal that has ever entered the space. Dead skin is the Dust Mite's staple food! | When you breathe in that air, you breathe in the mites riding on it! |
Because one cannot accurately determine the composition of a given airspace over time, a process that is somewhat universal is needed to address Indoor Air Contamination. Also, standard tests for certain toxins may show nominal readings at test time, but it is the constant exposure over long periods of time that scientists believe is the root of "SICK BUILDING SYNDROME" and its related illnesses.
Nature has a very efficient way
of cleaning the planet and its atmosphere. Energy from the sun
strikes the atmosphere, causing electrical and chemical
reactions. Negative and positive ions (charged particles) act as
tiny "magnets" in the air, causing particles of matter
to gravitate towards one another. Eventually, these particles
become heavy and fall out of the air.
In the urban living, negative ions are barely detectable. Adding
negative ions to our breathing for few hours can balance our body
and mind. That is why we feel good when we go up to Yosemite or
any mountains.
Also, nature has a way to effectively clean the pollutants by
thunderstorm and lightning. In the process, Ozone is produced.
Ozone (O3), or activated oxygen is the nature's all-purpose
cleaner. It oxidizes particles in the air as they settle, and
continues to work on them until they are on the ground! Ozone is
the fresh smell you experience right after a thunderstorm. You
might remember the clean smell of the sun-dried clothing. In
fact, one of the beneficial aspects of a thunderstorm is this
very effect.
Reaction with Ozone
FORMALDEHYDE ( HCHO )
HCHO + 2O3 --- CO2 + H2O +2O2
BENZENE ( C6H6 )
C6H6 + 11O3 --- 6CO2 +3H2O + 11O2
AMMONIA ( NH3 )
2NH3 + 3O3 --- N2 + 3H2O +3O2
Air Purifier units untilize new
technology to help tackle nearly any indoor air quality problem,
including sick building syndrme, cigarette smoke, mold spores,
pollen, dust, dust mites, etc.
Statistics tell us that nearly 90% of our time is spent indoors!
It makes sense to keep our indoor air clean, as well as the air
outdoors!
