The 2006 Ulysses Award

Several books and numerous small presses got involved with the 2006 "Ulysses" Award for Superior Independently Published Fiction.

Named after the most famous independently published novel of all time, James Joyces'
Ulysses, the award is given to one novel published during the calendar year that best exhibits the independent spirit.

As is the case some years, there were several notable entries and some great reads, we continue to be impressed with the quality and scope of independently published novels; however, there was no single book we felt stood out. IndyLit has therefore opted to "honorably mention" three novels again this year. We are pleased to announce the following books as 2006 "Ulysses" Award Honorable Mentions (in no particular order):

Evremonde by Diana Mayer

Cryptid by Eric Penz

Beyond All Desiring by Judith Laura
2007 will be the last year...

The 2007 "Ulysses" Award will be the last year. We are extending the entry date to March 31, 2007.

We've had the opportunity to read a number of great books, honor some incredible writers and develop great relationships. However, we feel it is time to discontinue the award program. When we first started, there was no award of this kind and literally thousands of books. We had a vision of bringing independent literature to more people and honoring great indy authors.

We want to thank all of you for your interest, your writing, and your patience.

Keep writing!
