This band has undergone more than a few transmogrifications to get to its current form (a trio consisting of Conor Keane, Blake Parker, and Tony Lowe). We have seen MANY names, including, but not limited to: The Dead Teddies, An Eighteen Word Long Good Question, No Life Crisis, and Toby. We have had our share of ex-bandmates as well. We enjoyed having David Alexander play Rhythm and Lead Guitar as well as doing vocals, Brian L. on Harmonica and rhythm cape with mask, Chris S. on drums, Ash, Kate, Reina, and Maria pulling off some singing duties, and Greg M. on Rhythm Guitar. These people only had brief stays in the band due to stylistic differences. We performed first together under one of the above names at a highschool Amnesty function. And have since rarely performed live due to lack of practice and band member locations. The following is Infinite Return's timeline. |
David A. asks Tony Lowe to play bass in an impromptu performance for an Amnesty International free speech demonstration. A 'wonderful' rendition of Smoke on the Water is played. |
Blake Parker, Tony, and David beginning holding jam sessions in which they do covers of odds and ends they've picked up here and there. David and Tony are often seen screwing around with their guitars in random hallways and other such places. |
Greg M. is invited to start playing with the trio and is quickly dismissed due to his obsession with David Bowie (although a good musician, still a money grubbing no good ..... well he just pumped out records, and Greg wasn't doing a great impression of that or anything). |
About this time Tony and Blake start to get into a grove and don't see David in that groove anywhere. They start to pay attention when other possible guitarists play around them. Tony sees Conor Keane with a guitar and asks to jam. |
Blake and Tony agree that Conor is a cool guy to chill with and that because he has a guitar, can play, and yes (possibly the most important part) he likes Radiohead, that Conor is in, and David (who doesn't like Radiohead) is out. |
After Conor's entrance into the band, the three members never managed to jam all together. For a few months it was always just Conor and Tony, or Tony and Blake, and never the full trio.. Before Blake moved up to Humboldt, they finally got together. |
The summer of 2001 brought a lot into the band (including new band names, and a job for Tony). With Tony's first job, came the induction of guitar effects into the sound of the band. No longer just a clean/distorted/clean band. |
It also brought the band their first opportunity to professionally record their songs. Infinite Empathy EP was recorded in Blake's basement, and later mixed in a studio. |
The lads began recording sometime in June and have been noodling throughout the summer. A few setbacks have pushed back the album release to Christmas at the earliest. Tony is getting packed and ready to move back to Seattle, so the regular schedule of jamming sporadically whenever possible will go back to their usual jamming only during school breaks and whenever anyone has the money to fly and see another band member. |
