This is tribute to the The. The band is actually one guy, Matthew Johnson. I don't know if I can put into words how important his music was to me during my formative years. He describes himself as a "born-again agnostic", an agnostic being someone who believes that God is either unknown or unknowable. If he only knew that in my own belief system (a type of agnosticism, for lack of a better word) he would be the closest thing to a god.
Why? Too personal, at this point, to put into words. But someone like that would deserve at least a cursory attempt on my part to pay tribute to on the web.
