| BLOG VIEW Depending on the person(s) whom I invite over (only time I get to hear my collection), I might spend a pleasant opera afternoon as we share our interest in the vocal art..Today it was pretty much "divas," and we listened to such truly great voices as those of Emmy Destinn,Rosetta Pampanini,Fedora Barbieri,Virginia Zeani,Marisa Galvany,Birgit Nilsson,Diana Soviero,tc..and we watched that wonderful,if a bit crazy,Stuttgart Gotterdamerung...because the Waltraute/Brunnhilde scene between Luana de Vol and Tichina vaughn is absolutely RIVETING!!!!! How many nice opera afternoons/evenings have you had with friends sharing your love for opera....there is no end to it all...Charlie My best, Charlie. | American mezzo-soprano Tichina Vaughn is internationally famous as an artist of consummate vocal beauty, dramatic power, and versatility. While still a student at the North Carolina School of Arts, she won the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions making her the first North Carolina native to achieve national success in the competition. Upon receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree, she was immediately invited to become a member of the Metropolitan Opera Studio. She made her debut on the MET stage in Porgy and Bess and sang minor roles in Suor Angelica, La Traviata and The Ghost of Versailles.
Since 1998 Ms. Vaughn has been a member of the ensemble at the Staatstheater Stuttgart. In addition to her many successes in Stuttgart, Ms. Vaughn has performed on international stages world-wide./ Profile |
