A club dedicated to keeping the cockatiel fancier INFORMED.

OUR MISSION

This group is for the LOVE of cockatiels. Our mission is to SHARE our successes with one another so we all can take better care of our little feathered friends. It is important to share this knowledge with others so they don't have to make the same mistakes we have in the past.
WE hope through this knowledge you will change the way you look at & breed your birds & begin to see  that working together we can produce  larger & healthier cockatiels.

What is ICA?
ICA is a grassroots association of breeders and pet owners that share their successes with one another. We talk about, and work though the problems we face daily in our aviary or home. We hope that through this knowledge, you will change the way you look at and bred your birds and begin to see that working together, we can produce healthy quality cockatiels.

What are the benefits?
The benefit is the health of your cockatiels. Most of our members reside among the Yahoo groups and are ever present to answer your questions.

What is our focus?
ICA promotes the breeding of birds from the health & quality standpoint- if a bird is not healthy, it defeats the purpose. We are not focused on showing but more on breeder/pet issues. ICA wants to set guidelines for the pet trade, a standard for a quality cockatiel that promotes not only the standard cockatiel, but it's overall health. Starting from the nest box, and focusing on the welfare & betterment of the cockatiel, you will have a healthy bird that naturally shows those desired traits.

How did we start?
We started in Hawaii, August 2001. We were a small club that got together & shared knowledge. In the quest, we ran across several people on the internet that shared the same ideas & goals.

Some ICA guidelines:
We encourage banding, so birds can be traced, history recorded & age can be verified. ICA encourages accurate record keeping. We want to network through breeders, pet shops & pet owner working together to produce and raise healthy cockatiels.
