Ladies and Gentlemen of IPMS Manila, before I share with you my goals and propose projects for our club for the year 2005, let me first share with you my feelings of joy being able to be part of this organization.
IPMS Manila, from a group of ten gentlemen, bunched themselves into a cohesive plastic modeling group. Later on, Abet Timbol invited me to join them. Abet has been a good friend of mine for a long while. We got to meet while browsing at Special Toy Center at SM North EDSA. I have seen three public exhibits, two of which I was invited into by another IPMS Club. Modeling is fun and worth the time spending with friends and relatives. Thanks to the energetic and, most of the time, hilarious bunch of officers of this club, 2004 has truly been a colorful one for me. Let us not forget our benefactors and friends who have supported us through 2004 namely the University of the Philippines Dean of the College of Architecture, Dean Luis, the honorable Congressman of the Buhay Party List Rene Velarde and our fellow member Mr. Winston Chua of Special Toys Center whose service through his chain of stores have provided for us new recruits and opportunities to publicly display our craft in large malls in Metro Manila.
In the year 2005, my goals are geared towards uplifting the modeling skills and self-confidence of our members. In having more exposure in modifying simple projects, members will be getting the most out of the models they buy. This,I believe, is a good formula for improving our skills.. We will also do more diorama group contests and at least one national open competition in the later part of the year. Plastic Modeling clinics in cooperation with Bankee Trading and the group of Mechapinoy should be cultivated in order to spread the horizon of modeling to the younger generation and steer them away from dangerous vices and unlawful activities.
All these cannot prosper without active participation from you - my fellow members. It will be through the continuance of your group builds and modeling clinics that we will all learn from one another and grow together. Let us join one another in attaining these goals I have set for the good of the hobby.
