Temple of Gina

Room 6

Donna meets with her parents to talk about Gina. She tells her dad that when she was little and got hurt her father always made her feel better. Then she says that Gina is hurting and he needs to make it better because thats what dads do. Her father upsets her when he says that's a child's view.

Gina comes to Donna that night and tells her the fantasy she used to have about her dad coming to save her when she was a kid and Donna apologizes for taking that away from her. Gina says that when Donna told her the truth, she was shocked and then she immediately had a new fantasy that her biological dad would be the father she'd always wanted. Donna says maybe things will work out happily still and Gina tells her maybe it already has. Gina reaches out to Donna and they clasp hands.

Gina learns that Matt is in trouble because he spent the retainer money on Kelly's ring so she goes to Dylan and asks him to loan her the money without telling him who or what its for. She makes a comment about how godparents are a lie to the child because they promise to take care of the child but never do. Later, Gina tells Donna she's not going to the christening because she doesnt believe in godparents because Dr Martin was also her godparent. Donna lets Gina know that she's not speaking with her parents and Gina apologizes for being the reason she's having problems with her parents.

A few days later, Gina goes to Dylan and tells him she was wrong to tell him that the whole godparent thing was a lie. She tells him its not about the adult, its about the child. And that Dylan could change Maddie's life, or maybe she'd change his. Gina gives Dylan a small gold cross necklace that she says her godfather gave her at her christening and tells him he can give it to Maddie if he wants. She kisses him on the cheek and leaves. Later, Dylan asks to speak at the christening and gives Maddie the gold cross necklace, saying that it was given to him by a little girl who didnt have a godfather and probably could have used one. He promises to always be there for the baby.

Dylan takes Gina to a swanky club's opening and a resulting picture leads to a job offer from a sports club. Gina asks Dylan to go with her to the meeting with the representive of the club at the After Dark. Dylan agrees and picks her up in a limo with Noah and several of his new party friends. One of the girls pulls out a vial of coke and when Dylan tells her not in his car, she grabs a bottle of champagne and starts spraying everyone. Gina is soaked and says she cant meet with the representive of the club looking like a drowned rat so Dylan pays off the limo driver and takes over driving. Gina asks Dylan to take her home and Dylan starts speeding. The police pull them over and find the vial of coke in the back of the limo and arrests both of them. At the station the police let Dylan know that some of the people hanging around him and Noah these days are suspected of major drug dealing and tell him he's only going to get out of this if he gives up the name of the dealer. Later, Dylan comes to Gina and tells her he got the name of the girl from Noah and the charges have been dropped. Gina tells him she lost the job as spokesperson for the gym because of a picture in the paper chronicling their arrest. Dylan offers to buy Gina a gym of her own and Gina tells him she doesnt want anything from Dylan except for him to stay out of her life. She tells him she's not getting sucked in again because he always causes her trouble.

Dylan tries to help Gina get a job in an effort to make up to her the fiasco that cost her the job at the gym. Gina goes to talk to the executive who tells her he thinks she'll be good for the channel but in order to get the job Gina will have to take on a personal training job with his young teenage son, and have him presentable for a dance in three days. Gina takes the young man, Michael, out for power walking and tries to motivate him to want to get into shape. When she learns that his father is over-critical and over-bearing, she identifies with him and tells him he can motivate himself by thinking of ways to stand up to his father. The next day when she goes to get him, his father tells her he hired her as a trainer, not to tell him how to be a parent and fires her. Later, Gina vents about the jerk to Dylan.

The night of the dance, Gina goes to pick Michael and tells his father she's his date. When he gets all snippy, Gina tells him about how her mother did the same thing to her that he's doing to his son and how it messed her whole life up. The father tells her how lost he's been since his wife died and admits that he's been more controlling since then. Gina tells him he just needs to listen to his son more. Later at the dance, Gina tells Michael she's going to the dance with him because no one ever did that for her. She dances with him then tells him to dance with the girl he has a crush on and he does. Gina turns around to find Dylan there, who tells her he's there because she never got to go to her own prom. Dylan tells her she did a good thing and Gina tells him so did he.

Gina goes to Donna with the news that her father has called her and asked her to dinner. Donna comments that her mom is out of town. Gina says that she's been without a father for so long, and she just hopes that being her father is all he wants. Later Gina goes to dinner with John and they discuss her skating. Then Gina tells him that her mom said it was his idea that Gina's parentage be kept quiet and John says it was mutual. Gina asks him if he asked her mom to end the pregnancy and he tells her that he never even suggested it. He tells he told her mom he would support her in any decision she made and he did.

Gina takes some healthy meals over to John, telling him he doesnt need to eat tv dinners while Felice is out of town. John tells her she doesnt need to do that and Gina accuses him of not having any room in his life for her and leaves. Later, John goes to Gina's hotel room and tells her he's been thinking about what she said. He tells her they have to make the effort. Gina tells him she hates calling him John. He tells her to call him dad and that he would be honored if she would. She calls him dad and tearfully says she likes that.

Gina starts her dad on some exercise training and when Donna calls he tells her he wants to have dinner with both his daughters. Donna hears Gina call him dad and tells her father she's happy for him. When Donna shows up, Gina finds John on the floor and he wont answer her. She lets Donna in and then calls 911.

The paramedics say it appears that John died from a stroke. Gina says she was getting ready for dinner but she never heard him cry out. Both girls stand alone in their grief, neither comforting the other. Steve tells Dylan about John's death and tells him Gina was there. At the beach house, Kelly asks if John was supposed to be exercising, implying that it may be Gina's fault, and Gina leaves. David follows her out and tells her that a man died and some people are going to be wondering if more could have been done. Gina says the man who died was her father. Later Dylan comes to Gina and tries to make her see that his death wasnt her fault.

Gina goes to talk to Felice and when Gina mentions that the obituary states John had only one daughter. Felice goes off on her and asks if Gina wants to destroy his reputation now that he's not around to explain the mistake he made. Gina says he didnt think of it that way, that he didnt think of her as a mistake. Felice then starts blaming Gina for John's death because of the exercising. Gina begs her not to do this and leaves in tears. Later, Gina tells Dylan what Felice told her and tells him she hates this town. Dylan says he's come to that conclusion himself and was thinking it was time for them to go somewhere else. Then he asks her where she'd like to live and Gina asks him if its for good. Dylan tells her thats the plan and she says to count her in.

Gina comes to Donna and tells her she's leaving LA after the funeral. She tells her that she's been really great to her the past few months and she thanks her and she wishes that she could say the same about the others. Gina says that everyone thinks its her fault that John died. Gina and Donna get in an arguement and Donna says thats maybe if Gina hadnt found out that John was her father, he'd still be alive.

At the funeral, Gina learns that Felice doesnt want her sitting in the first row with the immediate family. She tells Dylan they cant leave soon enough. When Donna breaks down while delivering his eulogy, Gina goes to Donna and finishes the reading for her. Afterwards, Gina comforts her and leads her back to her seat. Felice asks Gina to sit with them. Afterwards, Dylan tells her he cant leave LA yet. Later Donna asks Gina where she's going to go. Gina says she doesnt know, she's just going to drive across country. Donna says she's brave to do that. They reminisce about when they were kids, then share a sweet goodbye.
