!! GeoCities Bans Web Page !!
GeoCities, the largest provider of free Web page services, succumbed
to the Moslem pressure group, the Council on American Islamic Relations
(CAIR), and removed a Web page that "outraged Muslims" (CAIR's expression)
deemed hostile to Islam. This was a frightening development, as the Internet
is the last bastion of free speech. Through the Internet, I have had access
to viewpoints that I wouldn't find on traditional media such as TV, radio,
newspapers, and magazines, that have been co-opted by special interests.
GeoCities had promoted free speech on the Internet by offering Web services
at no cost, but they struck a blow against free speech by removing this
Web page!! What better way to protest GeoCities' action than by posting
a Web page on GeoCities!!! Send protests to comments@oocities.com
View the Web page banned
by GeoCities. While provocative in its statements, it substantiates
them by citations to the Koran and the Hadith.
