The rising influence of Islam in the West will be the greatest threat to our rights to freedom of speech and religion. Muslim pressure groups are seeking to limit how we may read, talk, and write and even threaten our lives and livelihoods.
This is particularly evident in how Muslim groups have succeeded in pressuring Internet Service Providers to close down web sites they deem offensive. Muslim groups, notably the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), succeeded in pressuring GeoCities to remove the site Truth Shall Prevail and in pressuring AOL to remove the site Suralikeit, which challenged readers to produce a "Surah [chapter] like it," to counter the challenge made by the Prophet. Muslim interlopers sabotaged the discussion group "Society for Islamic Humanists" by posting pornographic images and forced the shutdown of this group, which was designed to be a safe place where disaffected Muslims and dissidents could share their doubts and criticisms. The year 2001 CE began with the news that Tripod succumbed to Muslim pressure by removing the site Rational Thinking. The author of the Rational Thinking balanced criticism of Islam with compassion toward those people caught in this ideology. Apparently, that was too much for his opponents.The Koran and the example of the Prophet (as given in the Hadith) reveal that Islam advocates permanent struggle or jihad against non-Muslims - or least until non-Muslims are convertted, subjugated to Islamic authority (with all its attendant liabilities), or killed (citations). Islam regards non-Muslims as inferior in their humanity and abrogates the rights of non-Muslims. The terrorists - the Osama bin Ladens of the world - demonstrate a more honest understanding of Islam than Moslem apologists and fellow travelers. Muslim pressure groups know full well what the Koran teaches, but are deliberately misleading non-Muslims to promote their causes through appeals to justice, respect, fair play, anti-racism - values that transcend Islam, but not contained in the Koran.
"The Fastest Growing Religion in the US"
Islam claims to be the fastest growing religion in the U.S., and that the Muslim population is larger than the Jewish population. Its growth is not due to its merits, but to lax immigration laws, profligate birth rates among Muslims, and most worrisome of all, the complacency of non-Muslims and even non-Muslim complicity. Mrs. Bat Ye'or, a Jewish writer from Egypt wrote:
The Islamist movement makes no secret of its intentions to convert the West. Its propaganda, published in booklets sold in all European Islamic centers for the last thirty years, sets out its aim and the methods to achieve them. They include proselytism, conversion, marriage with local women, and, above all, immigration. Remembering that Muslims always began as a minority in the conquered countries ('liberated,' in Islamic terminology) before becoming a majority, the ideologists of this movement regard Islamic settlement in Europe, the United States, and elsewhere as a chance for Islam. [ from The Decline of Eastern Christianity under Islam]We can expect Muslims to be Muslims - typified by self-righteousness, positivity, and the absolute refusal to consider anything that reflects negatively on their precious religion, but non-Muslims should not be aiding and abetting Muslim causes; otherwise, we are nailing our own coffins.
Islam and the Schools
In my father's generation, the public schools played an important role into the assimilation of the children of immigrants into American society and enabled them to leave their ethnic enclaves, join the mainstream, and advance in society. Public schools have abdicated that role. Now, where there is a concentration of Muslims in a school district, girls wear headscarves in the classroom, rooms are set aside for prayers during the school day and Muslim students are excused from tests during Ramadan (a privilege not extended to non-Muslims - if it doesn't apply to all, it's no longer a right). Muslim groups are lobbying school boards to introduce Arabic as a course offering to enable Muslim students in their religious studies, thereby compelling taxpayers to subsidize Islam. All this is done in the guise of "cultural diversity." The "baby boomer" generation, of which I'm a member, worked to undo school dress codes, all in the name of "free expression." We screwed up. Muslims are using these freedoms as a stepping stone to enforce their brand of absolutism in the U.S. and to make America an Islamic country.
Moslem groups have also successfully pressured publishers to withdraw school textbooks that may create "wrong" ideas about Islam in "impressionable" minds, even when textbooks make accurate statements about the Prophet's appetites for perfume, women, and food, based on the testimony of his child bride Aisha in texts that Muslims consider authoritative!

Islam and Religious Organizations
Churches and other non-Moslem religious organizations have also played a role in promoting Muslim causes. These organizations have lost their mission and credibility with their adherents and are consequently losing membership, and in Islamic Monitor's opinion, are playing the Moslem card in a desparate attempt to regain what they gave up. The Roman Catholic Church is seeking rapprochement with Islam (the controversy of establishing a mosque in Nazareth notwithstanding), including collaboration with Islamic regimes at UN Conferences on Women. The United Methodist Church (UMC) has a policy against criticism of Islam, and even aligned itself with Muslim groups to lobby the Republican Party to fire a policy analyst who had written an article for an online Eastern Orthodox Christian magazine, even though he had not written in his official capacity. UMC's weekly TV program News Odyssey features placement pieces by Muslim groups. Trinity Church at Wall Street in New York City produced a TV program hosted by former CNN anchor Mary Alice Williams which had a segment on family living showing a Muslim family - why couldn't this (nominally) Christian church find a Christian family to exemplify family living?
Also, in conjunction with Muslim organizations, Christian and Jewish leaders have sought to undermine the Freedom from Religious Persecution Act that would slap sanctions on countries that persecute its religious minorities. They claim that this legislation is more hurtful than helpful, but when it comes down to it, the reason is that the reputation of Islam must be upheld and Muslim sensibilities (sensitivities) cannot be hurt. Meanwhile, church congregations in the U.S. took in Muslims from Kosovo (Yugoslavia) during the conflict there, offering them food, employment, and lodging. We cannot expect that mosques and Islamic centers will reciprocate and come to the aid of religious minorities being persecuted in Muslim countries.
Islam and the Federal Government
Government has also failed the American people. Much has been made of the way that the Clintons opened the White House (including the Lincoln Bedroom) to their Hollywood backers, but those revelations obscure how the Clintons went to bed with Muslim groups. The Clintons sent Ramadan greetings to the Muslim community, audaciously speaking on behalf of the American people, and have hosted Eid celebrations at the White House, which Hillary has called "an American event." This article reveals the close relationships between the Clintons and another Muslim pressure group, the American Muslim Council, which drew up the list of invitees to the White House. Even daughter Chelsea got in on the act, flattering her Muslim hosts in Pakistan by telling them that she was taking a course in Islamic history at Sidwell Friends School - her proud father related this fact at an Eid dinner and says the world "can learn a lot from Islam."
Former Secretary of State Madeline Albright hosted Moslem groups at a fast-breaking dinner during Ramadan, where she discussed recruiting Muslims for State Department posts. The growing influence of Islam is affecting U.S. foreign policy. While the U.S. avoided bombing Iraq during Ramadan so as not to antagonize the Moslem world, there were no such qualms about bombing Belgrade during Orthodox Easter, the holiest day of the Orthodox Christian calendar. The State Department International Information Programs provides articles on Islam in the United States and links showing how Islam has penetrated American society. "That Muslim-American communities flourished in the United States demonstrates one of the core values of American society -- the freedom of individuals to worship as they choose." Right! and watch our freedom to worship as we choose get undermined as Muslims gain power and influence. But what can you expect when former Secretary of State Albright hosted fast-breaking dinners for Muslims during Ramadan and current Secretary of State Powell was instrumental in the Gulf War for the "defense of Saudi Arabia and liberation of Kuwait," that is, to maintain the status quo in two of the most repressive Islamic countries? The jeziya we nonbelievers have to pay to forestall jihad against us ...
One wishes that the Clintons' courting of Islam would fade into a bad memory, as they have now left the White House, but Hillary is now Senator from New York, with probable intentions of using her office as a springboard for her own ambitions for the White House.
In Congress, the Arab-American Institute
(although not ostensibly a Moslem group) tried to push through a drafted
a concurrent
resolution that would have barred inquiry into Islamic doctrine
as part of political discourse and that was tantamount to recognizing "monotheistic"
and "Abrahamaic" faiths as the national religion.
