Blade Runner - Director's Cut

Rated: R (for violence)

I just recently saw the director's cut of this sci-fi classic, and honestly I was very impressed. Unlike many director's cuts, where there's added nudity and violence, this time it really created a great improvement from the original: the Harrison Ford voice-over was removed, there was an added dream of a unicorn, and a much better ending. So why did I give this a 4-star rating instead of a 5-star? Allow me to explain my conclusions: although the story is magnificent, the acting is terrific, and the story moves along at a very fast pace, I found that several parts were unnecessary and inappropriate. Also, I wouldn't recommend it for anyone that isn't a true sci-fi fan, because some of the plot-line is a bit difficult to follow. Set that aside, though, and you have an excellent film. The story concentrates on Deckard (meticulously played by Harisson Ford), a Blade Runner -- police officers with the sole purpose of eliminating Replicants. Robots that committed a violent mutiny off-world, these Replicants returned to Earth to find a way to expand their life-span. I'd say this is a very good movie worth watching several times.
