THE oceans of the world contain about 350 billion billion gallons of water, the amount evaporated from the earth's ocean and land masses over the course of one year, if condensed at one time, would cover the ENTIRE planet to a depth of 40 inches.

CALLING FIREFLIES

Here's something for you to try out on those warm summer nights when you want to act like Dr. Dolittle or simply want to impress the neighborhood kids...and parents. This really works..... When a flying firefly flashes, count two seconds (one-Mississippi, two-Mississippi), and then, holding a small flashlight close to the ground, turn it one for one second. Almost instantly, the firefly will land on your hand or close to it. I've had what seemed to be a whole yard full of them landing all around the flashlight. It really is amazing. The fireflies that you're talking to are the males answering the call of what they hope is an amorous female. Only the females stay stationary and blink. The ones that are flying are the males.

LAUGHTER..what is the purpose?

Laughter, which is uniquely human, is controlled by a primitive part of the brain and in all probability gave us a developmental edge over the apes and chimpanzees on our evolutionary trip. Laughter is our way of telling others that something that appears menacing isn't a potential threat and helps us shrug off the stress that surprises induce. This is one of the reasons we laugh at something funny....it helps rid us of the underlying stress that all of us harbor.

What city recorded the most RAIN in one year?

The city of Cherrapunji in INDIA wins the prize. In 1942 during the monsoon season 1,042" fell with 364" falling in on month. In a normal year the city receives about 450" of rain. The wettest year in the U.S. was from December 1981 to December 1982 when the city of Kukui on Maui, Hawaii received  739".
