Christian Vows

 BRIDEGROOM:

“Today I choose to unite myself to God and to you as my wife.  I confirm that God gave you to me as my bride.  My wish is to be a good husband to you, the kind that Jesus Christ wants me to be.

I pledge to unite myself to you as long as we live, to love you, to be your loyal friend and partner.  I will be slow to see your mistakes and quick to see your good qualities.  I will be your servant.  I truly love you and therefore pledge myself to be yours forever.  I reject the possibility of divorce as an escape when things get rough or if I’m unhappy and bind myself to you and to God through all conflict and problems knowing that God’s power will overcome and will help us to work through these times.  By the grace and power of God, my daily living will confirm my covenant with you.”

 BRIDE:

I pledge to unite myself to you, to love you and to be your uninhibited lover, to provide for your needs and to be your loyal partner and friend.  I will be patient with your shortcomings and be quick to appreciate your successes and not to criticize.  I will support you with my prayers and love.  I will be your servant.  I truly love you and therefore pledge myself to you forever.  I reject the possibility of divorce as an escape when things get rough or if I’m unhappy and bind myself to you and to God through all conflict and problems knowing that God’s power will overcome and will help us to work through these times.  By the grace and power of God, my daily living will confirm my covenant with you”

 Personalized Vow
written by Alan Johnson

I love you.
I pledge to grow in my Love for you.
I pledge to nurture our Love for it is
loving you that nurtures my soul.
I pledge to share our Love together as One.
I love you because you are the only one for me.
To know you is to know Love
- and through you, know True Love.

I love you because you are the One who completes me.
I can not know union without you
- for it is by joining you that I learn
about Love's union and where it comes from.

I love you because it is my soul mission in Life to learn our Love.
I do not so much seek to heal you,
but to embrace our Love that fills our Life as a way of healing each other.
I see your Love for me in your eyes and I see what freedom is,
what True Love is.

I promise to support your growth and share the fullness of myself.
I promise to honor you by being open to all the expressions of your inner self.
I promise to allow our Love we share become our Prayer we live.
Above all, I promise to be true to you and true to myself
so that we may grow in our Love that joins us as one.

If the Eagle is the symbol of freedom born out of True Love,
then I am one wing and you are equally the other.
Let us fly together in harmony and may
gentle winds carry us all the way to Heaven.

I, [Bride's name], take you [Groom's name], to be my husband, my partner in life and my one true love.
I will cherish our friendship and love you today,
tomorrow, and forever
I will trust you and honor you

In unison:
Entreat me not to leave you, or to return from following after you,
For where you go I will go,
and where you stay I will stay
Your people will be my people,

And where you die, I will die and there I will be buried.
May the Lord do with me and more if anything but death parts you from me.

Union of Love
submitted by Donna Davis

We will forever love one another and to share our most intimate thoughts.
Promise to hold and cherish and value each other.
We will live each day as if our last, vowing to never go to bed angry.
If sorrow enters our life as things sometimes do ,we pledge to one another that together we will see things through.
As we grow old and we slowly begin to change we will look into each others eyes and know that what we have will never go.
That with each breath we take ,our love will grow .
These are the words I feel and speak from my heart.
