Photo images with text from Jacqueline Howett - A writer and artists journey is but a glimpse
After the Arab era, I lived up in the mountains of North Wales for several years when I left London in 1985/6 editing various novels I wrote two major sessions a day and walked twice and climbed mountains with some salami and bread in my pockets. I usually stunk of sheep, but the scenery was breath taking. From my cottage I could see the castle lit up at night.I became a recluse. I fled from Wales to Europe, the Welsh were burning the houses of the English, who knew? I surely didn't. My cottage got graffitied. Then I fled to America.
My baby photos, and my teen years, twenties and early thirties. Scenery from where I grew up around Wimbledon, London, England.   Since my teens Europe and America were my playground.
From a stop in Athens Greece first -I then came to America and lived in Maine in 1988/9. I continued to do two and three sessions a day still writing/editing. This is where I came everyday. I lived in a Cape cod house across the street. It was here on Baxter Island (Mackworth island) in Falmouth Maine where I found some refuge. I could also look across the sea and see old England from New England. I was also in a bit of a culture shock to find names from England. I knew I was about to learn more mysteries. This island was for the deaf, dumb and the blind. As an art exhibit I bought three huge toy monkeys. It represented how I felt. It was my hide out.Just the way I lked it. Truely a beautiful place, but cold. I moved to California, then Florda and back to Maine and stay for twelve years. I never ventured into town alone, I was a recluse, or rather lived in my own bubble. I was only chaperoned to dinner or to shop into the town of Portland, until I seperated 7 years later in 1996, the year my Mother died and I fled into Portland and its Artist World, and found some independence, but I still wasn't ready to work.*For more imfo View Art Installion link.

From a dancer in a ballet overseas, I marry my Greek Chief Officer/Seaman at eigteen and lived at sea, where my amazing adventures began. Greece, Libya, Lebanon, Turkey, Crete and the Greek islands on a merchant ship. Through Hurricanes and sabotages some crew try to sink the ship. Two men die. My husband later dies of a heart attack.
