The poet/author Jacqueline Howett, was born in 1954 in London, England of English and Greek parents and first came to live in Falmouth, Maine in 1989. Having also lived for a short time in California and Florida, she returned to Maine in 1993 to settle and lived in Portland where she continued to dedicate her life to her writings and art. Her love for the sea coast of Maine derive much from her own experiences with ships and the sea and is no stranger herself to taking the helm on large cargo ships amidst a hurricane as a sea captains wife in her early twentys, and has written a novel about them. (See below). In 2002, she moved to Florida, where she is writing another novel. "Amorphous Angelic, selected poems" was written from 1983-1985 in London, England during her own rebirth while in a celibate/hermit repose. They remain her most memorable. It was a time Howett seriously began to dedicate herself to her lifes works in a mature form writing plays, poetry, novels and reading the classics after reconnecting to her creative spirit through a death/rebirth experience after having written the life of Cass, a novel she hopes to have published, that became the essence of these poems. She was influenced by Wordsworth, Coleridge and the Persian and Middle Eastern Poets. Among other books of poetry she has written are Sands of time, an arrangement of poems from the 70's to the year 2001, & My Greekside, a book of Greek poetry and lyrics in English translation which she began to compile after her mothers death in 1996. These are also to become available in audio. My Greekside began a new process in her own metamorphosis that marked the final transition to terra firma with letting go of her old emotional ties to Europe to finaly start living in more awareness the American life after completing her European novels, Since March 1999 she has maintained numerous arts & literature sites such as JACQWORLD, and in the summer of 2000 launched ATLinkswithPoetry on the internet where you can order her E-books/books in print and soon to be CD roms and audio cassettes. Jacqueline Howett dedicated these poems to her English father the artist, Leslie William Howett, whom she had not seen for more than 20 years until March 2001. She was thrilled she was able to give him a copy. Published by Elivlio Publishing. Stores where you can buy this book.
