Biography:

Graduated from the Naval Academy around 1966. Joined the SEALs soon after. Chegwidden served a tour of duty in Vietnam and made a name for himself. When he left the SEALs soon after Vietnam, he moved up through the ranks quickly and commanded a total of three destroyers over his career.

Eventually, he opted to transfer to the JAG divison and became a senior lawyer there. After a while, he became the chief JAG of the Pacific division. Upon reaching the rank of JAG of the Navy, he also became a Two-Star Admiral. He had a full-time job trying to keep his lawyers out of trouble and alive, but he has now retired and plans to spend the next summer visiting every single baseball park in the US with his daughter before going to Boston.

In order to not give away too many spoilers, I have not included much information from the time during the episodes.
