The Brainteaser Experience By James Aukett |
|||||
And here we were, Mark and I, in the semi-final. Before the game started, Craig asked us what we would do with £3000 should we actually win it. I said that I would use it for drinking in Manchester that coming weekend, whilst Mark said that he would use it as spending money for his forthcoming holiday, to which Craig insisted that Mark's answer was more sensible. Well, he wasn't wrong. But it was time for the semi-final to begin, and the first round was Wordstorm, where contestants are given the first and last letters of a word and how many letters the word contains, where they then have to come up with a suitable word that fits the description. So, for example, if Craig said the word contains seven letters, the first letter was P, and the last letter was E, then you would get the "PICTURE". Ten points are awarded for every correct word to the contestant that buzzes in first. I started off well, although Craig thought the first couple of words were a bit dodgy. Mark pulled one back before I came up with a run of four consecutive right answers. Mark then scored again, and then I came up with another two correct answers (on both occasions Mark had buzzed in first, but didn't know a correct answer) before Mark filled in the last word. At the end of the round I was leading 80-30. |
