Hello, my name is James A. Ellis,
Welcome to my autobiography page. I was born on August 31, 1958 at 10:26 p.m. in Providence Hospital Waco, Texas. My parents were H. Jack Ellis Sr. (deceased December 22, 2004) and Betty Lou Ellis (deceased December 4, 1971). In May of 1962 I had Open Heart Surgery (Ventricular Septal Defect) performed by the world reknown Heart Surgeon, Dr. Denton Cooley of Houston, at Texas Children's Hospital. The first seven years of my life were spent in Waco. In October of 1965 My Dad, who at the time, worked at James Connally A.F.B. accepted a position at Newark Air Force Station, Ohio. So my parents sold their home in Lacy-Lakeview (a north-side suburb of Waco) to move to Heath, Ohio. We first moved into 237 Indianhead Dr. (a rental home) in Heath on November 1, 1965 and spent our first Thanksgiving and Christmas in Ohio. On January 25, 1966 we moved in to our very own home at 68 Custer Rd. in Heath. Heath is a suburban community of Newark and Newark is a part of the Columbus metropolitan area of our state. Newark-Heath is located 35 miles east of Columbus. By the time we moved into 237 Indianhead Dr. I was enrolled in Heath City Schools. Heath's Schools are one of Ohio's finest educational facilities. From grades one through five I went to Garfield Elementary, and had some of the finest teachers available. From grades 6 through 8 I attended Fulton Middle School (now closed forever). During this time while attending 7th grade my mother passed away. Between 7th and 8th grade, my Dad had remarried to a wonderful woman from Utica, Ohio her name is Bea. In the fall of 1973 I entered into Heath High School as a Freshman (9th grade) and was 15 years old, and a part of the Heath High Marching band, and Concert band. The fall of 1974 I was a Sophomore (10th grade), 16 years old, and by November I was licensed by the State of Ohio to drive. My Junior year (11th grade) I was attending at Licking County Joint Vocational School in Newark, Ohio. I was a Graphic Arts student. After my senior year (12th grade) I graduated from Licking County Joint Vocational School (L.C.J.V.S.) and Heath High School, June 12, 1977 (Yippee I made it through school !!!) We thought school was so tough on us, we found out that our parents were so right when they told us: "Wait until your out of school and on your own!" Boy, was my parents so right. Life can be tough. Thank God for awesome parents! Times were tough in the late 70's and into the 80's. Decent Jobs were hard to come by. One by one, I went through many jobs. Then on October 30, 1989 I asked Jesus to forgive me of my sins, and to become my personal Lord and Savior. Since then I'm no longer all alone in this life. God says I'lll never forsake you or leave you! That's a promise that I can trust from God and His Holy Word! In 1995 I went to Columbus to drive for Yellow Cab. That lasted until May 1999 were I thought going to work back in Newark would lead to a slower paced lifestyle. So I decided to deliver pizzas at Central City Pizza. Then the call to drive cab came back for a last time in October 1999 and then it lasted till December 31, 1999. I guess I still didn't really know what I wanted to do. Well on that last night of the old millennium I received a call from my previous boss back at Central City Pizza. It was Matt, and he wanted to know if I would come back to work for him at the pizza shop. I guess he was short on drivers and liked how the fact that I showed up at work on time a did what ever was needed with out any complaints. So he told me he'd even give me a 25 cent on the hour raise. So on January 1, 2000 I returned to work at Central City Pizza. As of April 1, 2004 Matt Bailey sold Central City Pizza, he sold it to Rod Clark! Good luck to the Clark family! I am no longer affiliated with Central City Pizza. I worked for Domino's Pizza for about 4 months in downtown Newark, Ohio . Then I worked in Reynoldsburg, Ohio at Classic Pizza. On December 22, 2004 My Dad, Jack Ellis passed away. I miss him, for he was my best buddy and pal! On September 7, 2005 I took a job working in Columbus as a Transportation Driver. I drove a Ford E-350 15 passenger van . I pretty much exclusively transport MR/DD clients and Lifecare Alliance Lunch Groups The people I transported were really great folks! I liked my job really well but my hours were long. I worked from 6:00 a.m. to about 6:00 p.m., I got to go home for 1 hour lunch breaks daily. I worked 50-55 hours a week, but I do get weekends off. I worked for Safe Lift Transportation. I finally moved to Columbus on October 8, 2005. The reason for the move was I spent between $50-60 a week on fuel, I figured I could spend it on apartment rent. I love my new apartment! Work was just a 10 minute ride now instead of 35 minutes. Well I've lived in Columbus for over 2 years now, and I have just loved it so far! The month of April of 2007 brought some unexpected changes into my life. The first week of April I came down sick with low sodium, pneumonia and a possible heart attack. From April 13 - 20, 2007 I was in Riverside Methodist Hospital here in Columbus, Ohio. I have a news flash! I did not have a heart attack. In October 2007 I was back into the hospital again. While in the hospital I had a Coronary Catheter procedure, They checked my major ateries that supply my heart and all were clear but one and it was only 10% blocked so I was given good report. I was doing better and started back to work on April 30, 2007 .I was driving a car from then on, working about 30 hours a week. On July 10, 2007 I lost my job with Safe Lift due to 2 different Accidents I was in. August 10, 2007 I was put on Lantus a once a day slow acting insulin. My diabetes was getting out of control. August 20, 2007 I went to Social Security to sign up for SSI. On December 1, 2007 I received my letter from Social Security telling me that I have been denied. So it's back to work! As of January 11, 2008 I became a Yellow Cab driver again and I'm loving it! |
