Internationally-acclaimed playwright Israel Horovitz is the author of more than 50 plays, many of which have been translated and produced, world-wide, including The Indian Wants the Bronx (which introduced Al Pacino), Park Your Car in Harvard Yard (which starred Jason Robards in its Broadway run), North Shore Fish, The Primary English Class (which starred Diane Keaton in its NYC premiere), Line (which is off-Broadway's longest-running play, now in its 28th year). Horovitz's screen credits include Author! Author!, A Man in Love, The Strawberry Statement, and, most recently, Golden GlobeŽ-nominated Sunshine, starring Ralph Fiennes, for which Horovitz won the European Film Academy's Award as Best Screenwriter, and the Writers Guild of Canada's Prize for Best Screenplay. Mr. Horovitz has won many other awards, including the OBIE (twice), the Prix du Jury of the Cannes Film Festival, The NY Drama Desk Award, the Emmy, The Prix Italia (for his radio plays), The Christopher Award, an Award in Literature of the American Academy of Arts and Letters, a Lifetime Achievement Award from B'Nai Brith, and many others. Mr. Horovitz is founder and Artistic Director of Gloucester Stage Company, and of the New York Playwrights Lab. He visits France frequently, where he often directs French-language productions of his plays. He is among the most-produced American playwrights in French theatre history.
