Friendship True

How fragile it truly be,
A friendship that I wish to see:

Confiding, confessing, a trust of sorts,
Truthful and supporting with no destructive forts;

Hanging out, goofing off, and having fun,
Being there, understanding, winning the long run;

Hanging out together, alone and in a group,
With no icky feelings, good like tomato soup;

Sharing the truth, all and those embarrassing,
Saying how things feel, helping without asking;

Being there when needed, and when not so too,
Yet giving the space that is needed between me and you;

We can dance to slow and fast,
The pointless and meaningful, that there hast;

Always willing to help,
But not with the envious green of kelp;

Excluding no one from activities,
Yet making time for enjoyable private festivities;

Finding fun in daylight games;
And in the night, just the same;

Sharing unified feelings, without words,
To be able to flirt, with no mountainous herds;

To provide a shoulder to lean on,
Or a hug to fall upon'

That is a friendship agreed,
That is close and relationship-free.

To be best of friends, I truly seek;
And not care for else, all more wonderful it will be!

This poem finds friendship,
With the basis of love;
That I hope still exists,
On the wings of a dove.

Let us be best friends,
Close and icky-free;
Until (if at all) the time comes,
When true friends we surely shall be.
