Roland Joseph Miguez
Roland Joseph was born in 1917. He was a man of many interests, but especially the natural sciences and ham radio. He served in World War II, after joining the US Army Air Corps in 1940. He married Eve Rodriguez in 1943. Rising through the enlisted ranks, he made sargeant while stationed at Eglin Field in Florida and later in 1945 he served his country as a Master Sargeant, as he was sent to Iwo Jima for the close of the war. After returning to civilian life in 1946, he worked as a radio technician in south Louisiana for nearly 40 years.
He had nine children, six of whom survived. He was also grandfather to 12 children.
After suffering a heart attack in the 1980s, he lived with a heart condition until he died in 1995.
