Two super Modernist houses on this main arterial road running through the northern part of Bournemouth. Those semicircular towers look really fun and must surely be a pleasing feature of the rooms - though I wonder how easy such things really are to live with. The house on the left has managed to retain the original little windows at the bottom of the tower, though the owners of its twin have tired of them and put in some double-glazed slats. There are some other Deco-influenced shops scattered along Castle Lane, and a pleasing block of flats at nos.964-966 (Castle Court), but nothing as striking as this little pair of houses. |
